## Executive Summary
Disney President Dana Walden raises questions about Jimmy Kimmel's future at ABC, citing the challenges of the late-night television business model.

## Intelligence Brief
Questions have emerged regarding the contract status of Jimmy Kimmel and his long-running program, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, on ABC. Disney President Dana Walden has provided updates concerning the host's future, noting that the company is currently trying to make sense of the business. This uncertainty comes as the network evaluates its talent commitments and operational strategies. According to reports from Deadline, the central question is why Kimmel has not yet signed a new deal with Disney, leaving his long-term position at the network unclear. Multiple entertainment outlets are tracking these developments, with Variety and The Hollywood Reporter highlighting Walden's specific assessment of the current media landscape.

In comments reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Walden described the late-night slot as a challenging daypart. The Daily Beast has characterized the updates provided by Kimmel's boss as ominous. Additionally, TheWrap reports that Disney leadership is focused on reconciling the financial realities of late-night television with their broader corporate objectives. This situation is unfolding amidst a broader period of volatility for Disney. Coverage from Walt Disney World News Today indicates that Dana Walden is managing several high-pressure issues simultaneously, including corporate layoffs.

Walden has also addressed the financial performance of the company's film slate, specifically blaming the box office failure of the live-action Moana movie on the release of Moana 2. These intersecting challenges in both the film and television divisions provide the context for why the network is scrutinizing its existing late-night agreements. Future developments will likely center on whether ABC and Jimmy Kimmel can reach a new agreement that satisfies the company's current business model. Observers are watching to see if the challenging nature of the late-night daypart leads to further structural changes at the network. While Disney has not announced a final decision, the public comments from Dana Walden suggest that any new deal will be weighed against the company's ongoing efforts to stabilize its business and manage its workforce through layoffs.
