# Eight Games Are Leaving Xbox Game Pass In Early October 2026

> **Open Intelligence Dossier** · First detected: 2026-10-02 20:00 UTC · Category: Technology

## Executive Summary
Xbox Game Pass is undergoing a significant library shift in early October 2026, removing several titles including a recent Game of the Year winner.

## Intelligence Brief
Xbox Game Pass is preparing to remove a group of titles from its subscription service in early October 2026. The specific number of games departing the library is a point of slight variation across reports, with some outlets identifying eight titles leaving the service and others stating that nine games are being removed. This rotation of content coincides with the arrival of a new title, Minecraft Dungeons II, which is entering the Game Pass ecosystem as these other games exit. Coverage of these changes has been widely reported across multiple gaming and technology news platforms.

TheXboxHub, Pure Xbox, and Insider Gaming have all detailed the departures and arrivals occurring in the first part of the month. Additionally, GameSpot and VICE have reported on the loss of these titles, with VICE specifically highlighting that the 2025 Game of the Year is among the games scheduled to leave the Xbox Game Pass service this month. This event is significant because the removal of a title recognized as the 2025 Game of the Year represents a loss of a high-profile, critically acclaimed game for subscribers. The timing of these departures, occurring alongside the launch of Minecraft Dungeons II, illustrates the ongoing cycle of content additions and removals that define the Xbox Game Pass subscription model.

Users who wish to play the exiting titles must do so before the transition period concludes in early October. Observers should monitor the service for the official confirmation of whether eight or nine games are being removed, as coverage from GameSpot and Insider Gaming differs from the reports provided by TheXboxHub and Pure Xbox. Future updates will likely focus on the integration of Minecraft Dungeons II into the library and any subsequent announcements regarding which specific titles are being delisted from the subscription service.
