## Executive Summary
Cross-border firing by Indian forces near Kasur results in two Pakistani civilian deaths and a formal diplomatic summons.

## Intelligence Brief
Recent reporting establishes that Indian border forces killed two Pakistani civilians and wounded another in cross-border shooting near Kasur and the Punjab region, specifically near Rajoke village. According to coverage from outlets such as Reuters, Al Jazeera, Dawn, The Express Tribune, Bloomberg.com, and Inshorts, Pakistani security sources and state media confirmed the incident. In response to the civilian deaths and injuries, the government of Pakistan summoned an Indian diplomat to address the border event. Coverage across the participating news organisations heavily emphasises the diplomatic friction resulting from the shooting.

Outlets like Bloomberg.com and Al Jazeera foreground the formal diplomatic summons issued by Pakistan over the border killings. Meanwhile, regional publications such as Dawn and The Express Tribune utilize state media reporting to detail the casualties near Kasur, while Inshorts frames the event around the shooting of individuals described as intruders near Rajoke village in Punjab. The broader context involves long-standing tensions along contested border areas between India and Pakistan, though specific background details regarding prior incidents are not deeply elaborated in the immediate coverage. Readers are left to understand the event through the lens of immediate diplomatic escalation, specifically the official summoning of the Indian diplomat by Pakistani authorities following the cross-border casualties.

Future developments to watch will depend on official responses from both governments regarding the diplomat summons and the border shooting. Coverage does not yet specify whether further diplomatic measures will be taken, how India responds to the allegations from Pakistani security sources, or if security protocols along the Kasur and Punjab border regions will change.
