## Executive Summary
An Israeli air attack on a Gaza City apartment has killed at least five people amid ongoing diplomatic efforts and health reports.

## Intelligence Brief
An Israeli air attack targeted an apartment in Gaza City, resulting in the deaths of at least five people. This information has been confirmed by health officials and reported by Al Jazeera and Reuters. The strike marks a continuation of the military activity in the region, specifically targeting residential structures within Gaza City. While the immediate casualties are reported as five, coverage does not specify the identities of the deceased or the exact nature of the building's use prior to the strike. Coverage of the event is being led by major international outlets including Al Jazeera and Reuters, who emphasize the death toll reported by local health officials.

Simultaneously, other reports are focusing on broader humanitarian data. Haaretz has noted a report from the Gaza Health Ministry indicating that excess deaths for the year 2025 were lower than what experts had previously expected. These varying reports highlight a focus on both immediate tactical strikes and long-term mortality statistics within the territory. Contextual reporting from Democracy Now! features Muhammad Shehada, who discusses the Gaza Plan proposed by Trump one year ago. Shehada characterizes the plan as a means of buying more time for what he describes as genocide.

This suggests a persistent tension between political proposals and the reality of the conflict on the ground. The regional situation remains volatile as political actors attempt to navigate a path toward stability while military operations continue to impact civilian infrastructure in Gaza City. Attention is now turning toward international diplomacy, as 5 Eyewitness News reports that Iran has indicated it received a response from the United States regarding a war-ending proposal. The specific details of this US response remain unclear at this time. Observers are monitoring whether this diplomatic communication will influence the frequency of air attacks or lead to a formal resolution, while health officials continue to track casualties from strikes like the one that hit the Gaza City apartment.
