Jason Isbell and the Drive-By Truckers shared a stage for the first time in almost twenty years. According to the reported details, the event took place at McFarland Park, marking the fifth iteration of Shoals Fest, an event hosted by Jason Isbell. The reunion centered around a specific performance in which the group played the album Decoration Day in its entirety. This appearance stands as the first full set the artist has performed with the ensemble since the year 2007. Media organizations such as Relix and Stereogum heavily emphasize the specific duration of the separation, noting the span of nearly twenty years since their last full set together in 2007.

Reporting from Alabama Public Radio and The Flor-Ala anchors the event firmly in its geographic and cultural context at McFarland Park during the fifth annual Shoals Fest. The collective coverage captures significant media attention across music journalism and local news channels alike. This development carries historical weight within the alternative country and southern rock genres due to the long-standing separation between the artist and the band following his departure after the 2007 era. The choice to perform the album Decoration Day in its entirety serves as a direct nod to the specific body of work associated with his tenure in the group. Shoals Fest, hosted annually at McFarland Park, provided the physical venue and organizational framework that brought the entities back together on stage.
