> **Open Intelligence Dossier** · First detected: 2026-10-05 21:00 UTC · Category: Science

## Executive Summary
Minor geomagnetic storms are forecasted to make the Northern Lights visible across several U.S. states this coming Sunday.

## Intelligence Brief
A series of minor geomagnetic storms are forecasted to potentially bring the Northern Lights to various regions of the United States. According to a report from Forbes, the aurora could be visible in 9 states this Sunday. Other coverage from People.com suggests a slightly different scope, indicating that residents in 11 states may be able to watch the lights tomorrow. Localized reports from WKBN.com specifically note that people living in the Valley could also have the opportunity to see the Northern Lights during this event. Various media outlets are tracking the solar activity leading up to this window.

Forbes and People.com are focusing on the geographic reach of the aurora, while WKBN.com is providing localized alerts for its specific audience. Additionally, the publication Судово-юридична газета reported that the current week began with magnetic storms, indicating a period of heightened solar activity. These outlets collectively emphasize the timing of the forecasts and the specific regions where visibility is most likely. Context for these events is provided by The Watchers, which notes a specific solar occurrence involving a Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) from September 28. This CME was expected to deliver a glancing blow to Earth on October 2, which contributed to the overall geomagnetic storm forecast.

This sequence of solar events provides the scientific background for why the magnetic storms are occurring and why the Northern Lights may be visible further south than usual during this particular weekend. Future observations will depend on the actual impact of the forecasted geomagnetic storms. Observers will be watching to see if the aurora manifests in the 9 states mentioned by Forbes or the 11 states highlighted by People.com. Further updates will likely depend on the ongoing monitoring of solar activity and the actual visibility of the lights in the Valley and other targeted regions as the weekend progresses.
