## Executive Summary
The United Kingdom is threatening to expel 27 Israeli diplomats and their families following an order by Gideon Sa'ar to close a Jerusalem consulate.

## Intelligence Brief
The United Kingdom has issued a threat to expel 27 Israeli diplomats along with their families. This diplomatic escalation is a direct response to an order issued by Gideon Sa'ar. The core of the dispute involves the planned closure of a British consulate located in East Jerusalem. According to reports, the UK government has indicated that these expulsions will occur if the consulate in Jerusalem is shuttered, signaling a severe breakdown in bilateral diplomatic relations over the status of the mission. Coverage of this development is widespread across several international and regional outlets. The Jerusalem Post explicitly notes that the expulsions would include the diplomats' families.

Al Jazeera, Ynetnews, and The Times of Israel all report the specific number of 27 diplomats targeted for expulsion. Furthermore, The Guardian highlights that the specific point of contention is the planned closure of the consulate in East Jerusalem. These reports collectively emphasize a high-stakes standoff between the two nations regarding the presence of UK officials in the city. Contextual details provided in the coverage indicate that the UK has attempted to resolve the matter through high-level diplomatic channels. Reuters reports that a UK security adviser visited Israel specifically in a bid to keep the Jerusalem consulate open, according to sources. This visit suggests that the UK sought a negotiated solution to prevent the closure before resorting to the threat of expelling Israeli personnel.

The stakes involve the maintenance of a diplomatic footprint in East Jerusalem, which is a point of significant geopolitical sensitivity. Future developments will likely center on whether the Israeli government proceeds with the order issued by Gideon Sa'ar. If the closure of the consulate is finalized, the UK has stated it will follow through with the expulsion of the 27 diplomats and their families. Monitoring will focus on whether further diplomatic visits or negotiations occur to avert this outcome. Coverage does not yet specify a deadline for the closure or a specific date for when the expulsions would be carried out if the threat is enacted.
