## Executive Summary
Music collectors are preparing for the 2026 Record Store Day Black Friday event featuring over 180 exclusive vinyl releases.

## Intelligence Brief
The music industry is gearing up for the 2026 Record Store Day Black Friday event, which will feature a wide array of special physical releases. According to coverage from Billboard and Yahoo, several high-profile artists are participating in the event, including KATSEYE, Joji, and Noah Kahan. These artists will be releasing special editions of their work specifically for this occasion. The event is designed to drive traffic to local record stores through the distribution of limited-edition vinyl and other physical media formats that are not available through standard retail channels. Different media outlets are highlighting specific segments of the release list to cater to their respective audiences.

Variety reports that there are more than 180 exclusives planned for the event, emphasizing the scale of the rollout. For those focused on specific genres, Loudwire has published a comprehensive list focusing specifically on releases tailored for rock and metal fans. Meanwhile, Consequence of Sound has narrowed the vast catalog down to a list of 18 must-have releases, and Pitchfork has curated a more selective list of 15 releases they deem actually worth acquiring during the Black Friday rush. This event matters because it represents a intersection of seasonal shopping trends and the ongoing resurgence of vinyl record collecting. By tying these releases to Record Store Day, the industry aims to support independent record shops during one of the busiest shopping weekends of the year.

The inclusion of diverse artists like Joji and Noah Kahan suggests an effort to attract a broad demographic of listeners, from pop and R&B fans to those interested in folk and indie music, thereby increasing the overall footprint of the physical media market. Looking forward, collectors will be monitoring the specific availability and distribution details for these 180+ exclusives. The focus will remain on the high-demand items identified by outlets like Pitchfork and Consequence of Sound. As the date approaches, fans of the specific artists mentioned—such as KATSEYE and Joji—will likely seek out their local independent record stores to secure these limited pressings before they sell out. The success of the event will be measured by the volume of these special releases moved through participating retail locations.
