## Executive Summary
The Oakland Athletics are evaluating a shortlist of candidates, including Sam Fuld and Jared Banner, to fill their vacant General Manager position.

## Intelligence Brief
The Oakland Athletics are currently in the process of filling a vacancy for the General Manager position previously held by David Forst. According to reports from The New York Times and MLB Trade Rumors, the organization is pursuing Sam Fuld, an executive with the Phillies, and Jared Banner of the Cubs as potential candidates for the top executive role. This search comes as MLB.com reports that the Athletics are mulling over a few specific names to determine who will lead their front office operations moving forward. Coverage of the search has been highlighted by multiple sports outlets and news organizations. The New York Times has specifically identified Fuld and Banner as candidates for the job, while MLB Trade Rumors has emphasized that the Athletics are actively pursuing these two individuals.

Meanwhile, NBC Sports reports a development in the candidate pool, stating that Falvey has turned down an interview for the Athletics' General Manager position, narrowing the field of potential applicants as the team seeks a replacement for David Forst. Context for the search involves the current stability of the candidates' respective organizations. Phillies Nation has raised questions regarding whether the Phillies could lose a top executive like Sam Fuld, particularly as an extension for Dave Dombrowski is looming. The movement of high-level executives between teams often signals shifts in organizational strategy, and the Athletics' urgency to fill the vacancy suggests a need for immediate leadership in their front office following the departure of Forst. Looking ahead, the timeline for a resolution is imminent.

According to roundtable.io, the Athletics are reportedly expected to make a final decision on their new General Manager this week. Observers will be watching to see if the team secures one of the named candidates from the Phillies or Cubs, or if they pivot to other options after the reported refusal of an interview by Falvey. The final selection will determine the direction of the Athletics' roster and executive management.
