## Executive Summary
Actor Glen Powell addresses his refusal to engage in political discourse and attributes the failure of 'The Running Man' to Paramount's internal layoffs.

## Intelligence Brief
Actor Glen Powell is making headlines following comments regarding his public image and the commercial performance of his recent cinematic projects. According to coverage from Variety and Just Jared, Powell has explicitly stated that he is staying quiet on political matters because he does not like the current state of the discourse. He further elaborated, as reported by Consequence of Sound, that he believes politics serve to divide people and that engaging in such conversations is not presently possible. These statements come as Powell addresses fans who have been asking for his specific political views. Simultaneously, Powell is speaking out about the box office failure of his film 'The Running Man.' Reports from Variety, World of Reel, and Epicstream indicate that Powell blames Paramount for the movie bombing.

Specifically, he alleges that the film flopped because Paramount laid off its entire marketing department. Club adds that Powell believes these broader Paramount layoffs bear responsibility for the poor performance of the film. Just Jared notes that Powell has used this platform to explain why two of his most recent movies failed to become box office hits. The context of these remarks highlights a tension between high-profile talent and studio infrastructure during a period of corporate restructuring. The situation underscores how the absence of a functional marketing arm at a major studio like Paramount can impact the financial viability of a tentpole release regardless of the lead actor's profile.

By linking the 'bombing' of 'The Running Man' directly to the loss of marketing personnel, Powell is pointing to systemic corporate failures rather than creative or audience-driven reasons for the movie's lack of success. Moving forward, the industry will be watching to see if Paramount responds to Powell's claims regarding the layoff of its entire marketing department. Coverage from The Independent and Variety suggests a continued focus on Powell's strategy of remaining politically neutral in an increasingly polarized environment. Future reports will likely track whether other actors associated with Paramount's recent layoffs speak out about similar promotional deficits. For now, Powell remains firm in his stance that political engagement is counterproductive and that corporate instability harmed his recent work.
