## Executive Summary
Leaked ESRB ratings suggest Mafia II and Mafia III Definitive Editions are receiving native next-gen ports for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

## Intelligence Brief
New industry listings indicate that Mafia II and Mafia III are being prepared for native releases on current-generation hardware. According to reports from PlayStation Universe and Insider Gaming, listings for these titles have appeared on the ESRB website, which suggests that native ports for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S are impending. These updates specifically involve the Definitive Edition versions of the games. The emergence of these ratings serves as a primary indicator that the titles are moving toward a formal release on these newer platforms, moving beyond previous iterations of the software. Multiple gaming outlets are tracking these developments with a focus on technical performance. Push Square and PlayStation Universe highlight the likelihood that these native PS5 ports will support 60fps, providing a smoother experience than previous versions.

Similarly, Pure Xbox reports that Xbox Series X|S users could see 60fps upgrades very soon. IGN has also covered the story, noting that these potential upgrades for both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles follow a leak of the Definitive Editions online, which has brought the possibility of enhanced performance to the forefront of the discussion. The context for this trend is the ongoing effort to bring legacy titles to modern hardware via Definitive Editions. These versions typically consolidate original content with technical improvements to better suit current console capabilities. By securing native ratings for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, the developers can leverage the increased processing power of these machines. This is significant for the Mafia franchise as it ensures that older entries in the series remain accessible and visually competitive for players who have transitioned to the latest generation of gaming consoles.

Looking forward, the industry is awaiting official confirmation from the publishers regarding release dates and specific feature sets. While the ESRB listings and leaks reported by IGN and Insider Gaming provide strong evidence of upcoming ports, the exact technical specifications beyond the likely 60fps target remain unconfirmed. Observers will be watching for formal announcements that detail whether these upgrades will be available as free patches for existing owners or as separate retail purchases. The sequence of events suggests that a formal rollout for both Sony and Microsoft platforms is imminent.
