> **Open Intelligence Dossier** · First detected: 2026-10-07 05:00 UTC · Category: Sports

## Executive Summary
Alex Cora tells the Phillies he won’t seek the 2027 job, prompting a search that may land on Don Mattingly as the team also battles Ronald Acuña Jr.’s knee.

## Intelligence Brief
The Boston Globe headlined the development with a statement that Cora will not pursue the Phillies’ managerial position, while The New York Times added that the club’s search might turn to Don Mattingly after Cora’s repeated snub, citing unnamed sources. NBC Sports contributed a separate but related note, reporting that outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. was listed as “iffy” for Game 4 because of a knee issue, underscoring on‑field concerns that coincide with the front‑office vacancy. The mention of Don Mattingly suggests that the organization is considering experienced candidates, though the reports do not detail his prior roles.

Meanwhile, Acuña Jr.’s health status is highlighted as a factor that could affect the team’s performance in the short term, linking the managerial search to immediate player availability concerns. Future monitoring will focus on any official statement from the Phillies confirming the next steps in the hiring process, including whether Don Mattingly or another candidate is formally approached. Updates on Ronald Acuña Jr.’s knee condition will also be tracked, as his participation in upcoming games remains uncertain.

Continued reporting from the Boston Globe, The New York Times, and NBC Sports is expected to shape the narrative around both the managerial vacancy and the team’s on‑field health roster.
