Microsoft has officially announced the release date and pre-order availability for the Surface Laptop Ultra, which is described by the company as one of its most powerful Surface devices to date. According to reporting from CNBC, the device will be available for purchase at a price point of $2,599. A central feature of this new hardware is the integration of an Nvidia AI chip, marking a significant shift in the internal specifications of the Surface laptop lineup. Meanwhile, Bloomberg.com reports that Microsoft is positioning the Surface Laptop Ultra as a superior alternative to Apple's hardware, with the company stating that the new laptop outperforms MacBooks. The Verge has highlighted the long-awaited nature of this announcement, noting that the device finally has a confirmed release date after previous anticipation. This launch represents a strategic move by Microsoft to integrate specialized AI hardware into its consumer laptop offerings. By partnering with Nvidia for the AI chip, Microsoft aims to target high-end users who require maximum processing power for artificial intelligence tasks.
