## Executive Summary
BYU star running back LJ Martin is expected to miss four to six weeks of action, including a key matchup against Notre Dame.

## Intelligence Brief
BYU is facing a significant personnel loss as star running back LJ Martin has been reported out for a period of four to six weeks. According to reports from Deseret News and The Salt Lake Tribune, this injury timeline ensures that Martin will be unavailable for the upcoming game between BYU and Notre Dame. The loss of a primary offensive weapon comes as the Cougars navigate their current schedule, leaving the team to determine how they will adjust their rushing attack in his absence. Coverage of the injury has been highlighted by multiple outlets, with Yahoo Sports describing the news as a crushing update for the BYU program.

The Salt Lake Tribune has specifically focused on the tactical implications of the injury, questioning what the next steps will be for the Cougars' running game now that Martin is sidelined. Meanwhile, Deseret News provided the specific window of time the athlete is expected to miss, confirming the four to six week duration of the recovery period. This development is particularly critical as BYU prepares for high-profile contests. While the focus remains on the loss of Martin for the Notre Dame game, other coverage from heraldextra.com is looking toward the team's immediate preparations for a Friday game against Iowa State.

The context of these injuries often forces a redistribution of carries among backup players, which is the central concern raised by the local sports press in Utah regarding the efficiency of the Cougars' offense. Looking forward, the focus will be on the BYU coaching staff's strategy to fill the void left by the star running back. Observers will be watching the depth chart to see who emerges as the primary ball carrier during the four to six week recovery window. The immediate priority for the team is the Friday matchup against Iowa State, followed by the challenge of facing Notre Dame without their leading rushing threat available to play.
