## Executive Summary
Best Buy is reviving midnight launches to provide a final opportunity for consumers to purchase the frequently sold-out Zelda: Ocarina of Time Switch 2.

## Intelligence Brief
Retailer Best Buy is initiating a midnight opening event specifically for the launch of Ocarina of Time, which will include the availability of Zelda-themed Switch 2 consoles. These specific hardware units have been consistently selling out across various platforms. This event is being positioned as a final opportunity for consumers to acquire the limited hardware. The hardware is part of a broader celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Zelda franchise, which includes a specialized Hyrule makeover for the Switch 2 system. Coverage from Polygon.com emphasizes that Best Buy is reviving the concept of the midnight launch to handle the demand for the sold-out hardware.

IGN reports that both the Ocarina of Time launch and the availability of the Zelda Switch 2 consoles are central to the midnight opening announcement. Kotaku highlights that this event represents a last shot for buyers to secure the console that has remained unavailable in many outlets. Additionally, Vooks reports that Nintendo is reopening preorders for a related accessory: the Zelda 40th Anniversary Pro Controller which comes with a stand. Context provided by Lifestyle Asia Hong Kong indicates that the aesthetic changes to the Switch 2 hardware, described as a Hyrule makeover, are tied directly to the 40th anniversary of the Zelda series. The high demand for the Ocarina of Time edition suggests a significant market interest in anniversary-branded hardware.

The combination of a new console iteration and a landmark anniversary for one of Nintendo's most prominent intellectual properties has created a supply shortage that necessitates specialized retail events like the midnight launch. Looking forward, the primary focus remains on the Best Buy midnight opening and the limited stock of the Zelda Switch 2 hardware. Observers should also track the reopened preorder window for the Zelda 40th Anniversary Pro Controller with stand as mentioned by Vooks. Because coverage describes this as a final chance to obtain the console, the outcome of the midnight launch will determine if the hardware remains sold out across the rest of the retail landscape. There is currently no mention of further restocks beyond this event.
