## Intelligence Brief
Specifically, former Nintendo marketing leads state that Elon Musk dressing up as the character Wario for a Saturday Night Live skit did not go over well at the company. According to the reporting, the portrayal made Nintendo uncomfortable and was described as being out of leftfield when it originally aired in the year 2021. The widespread reporting across multiple gaming and entertainment platforms heavily emphasizes the perspective of former Nintendo employees.

These sources unpack the internal reaction to the television sketch, focusing on how the corporate leadership and marketing teams received the unexpected use of the intellectual property. Outlets such as IGN and GamesRadar+ highlight the specific phrasing used by the former staff members to describe the surprise and awkwardness surrounding the character's appearance on the late-night comedy program. Contextually, the coverage revisits the 2021 broadcast of Saturday Night Live hosted by Elon Musk, during which various sketches were performed.
