## Executive Summary
ESA’s Hera spacecraft fires its engines to rendezvous with the asteroid scarred by NASA’s 2022 impact, marking the first close‑up of a planetary‑defence test.

## Intelligence Brief
ESA’s Hera spacecraft is preparing for a critical maneuver as it closes on the binary asteroid system Didymos. According to The Daily Galaxy, Hera will fire its main engines for a 93‑minute burn to fine‑tune its trajectory before the scheduled arrival later this month. The mission’s objective is to inspect the crater and any debris created by that earlier collision. Coverage across five outlets highlights different facets of the approach.

The Daily Galaxy focuses on the engine‑firing sequence, describing it as a high‑stakes asteroid approach. Heise online reports that the target asteroid appears as a single pixel in the latest images, underscoring the distance still to be covered. Starlust.org notes that Hera has obtained its first visual glimpse of Didymos, the body that bore the NASA impact. Upcoming milestones will be closely monitored.

Observations planned for the binary pair include high‑resolution imaging and spectroscopic surveys that could refine impact‑effect models. Future reports are expected to track data transmission back to Earth and any adjustments to the mission timeline as Hera gathers its first in‑situ measurements.
