Following publications by NOS Sport and In de Waaier, the organization has announced the launch of an independent investigation. This inquiry addresses severe claims regarding a culture of fear, distrust, and a reported dictatorship within the team environment. The reporting emphasizes profound psychological impacts on riders, with coverage highlighting that traumatized athletes feel unsafe within the team structure.

Specific statements cited in the reports include severe personal distress, such as a rider noting thoughts of self-harm due to the conditions. Cyclingnews describes the extensive report characterizing the team environment as a dictatorship, while CyclingUpToDate.com and IDLprocycling.com frame the situation as a bombshell development for the organization. Team Picnic PostNL has acknowledged these publications directly through an official statement issued in response to the reports by NOS Sport and In de Waaier.
