## Executive Summary
Authors Alana Hadid and Jenan Matari pull their children's book on Palestine from Penguin Random House prior to its scheduled release.

## Intelligence Brief
Recent reporting outlines a dispute between authors Alana Hadid and Jenan Matari and their publisher, Penguin Random House, resulting in the withdrawal of a children's book about Palestine prior to publication. According to coverage from Anadolu Ajansı, Yahoo, Yeni Şafak English, i24NEWS, and The Guardian, the decision stems from disagreements over editorial changes made by the publishing house. Specifically, coverage details that the publisher challenged the justification of the October 7 attacks and sought edits concerning the Nakba and Palestinian history. Outlets such as The Guardian and Yahoo emphasize the familial connection of co-author Alana Hadid to supermodels Gigi and Bella Hadid, while Anadolu Ajansı and Yeni Şafak English focus closely on the specific historical disputes surrounding the editorial modifications.

Coverage highlights that the withdrawal occurred before the book could reach shelves, underscoring a clash between the authors' textual framing and the publisher's editorial standards regarding sensitive geopolitical events. Context provided across the reporting notes that the manuscript addresses significant historical and contemporary milestones, including the Nakba and the October 7 events. The inclusion of these topics created friction over how sensitive terminology and historical interpretations should be presented in a children's book format. The specific nature of the edits required by Penguin Random House directly precipitated the authors' decision to pull the project entirely rather than proceed with the requested alterations.

As coverage does not yet specify whether the authors plan to seek an alternative publisher or release the unaltered manuscript independently, readers and industry observers must monitor future announcements from the authors and Penguin Random House. Reporting currently focuses strictly on the withdrawal and the editorial disagreements over Palestinian history that led to the cancellation of the book's release.
