## Executive Summary
AJ Dybantsa’s ankle injury sidelines the No. 1 pick as the Wizards close a tight preseason against the Pelicans.

## Intelligence Brief
The contest, described as the preseason finale, saw the Wizards' top draft selection, No. 1 overall pick AJ Dybantsa, leave the floor after sustaining an ankle injury. Multiple outlets focused on different aspects of the incident. Bleacher Report detailed the latest information on Dybantsa’s projected timeline for returning to practice, while BasketNews.com and Hoops Rumors provided updates on the severity of the ankle roll. ESPN’s report highlighted the injury itself, and USA Today reiterated the pick’s exit from the preseason finale.

In the same batch of reports, NBC Sports noted that the Boston Celtics converted forward Derrick Carter to a two‑way contract, illustrating the broader preseason roster activity across the league. The preseason finale traditionally serves as the last opportunity for coaches to assess player health and integrate rookies into the system before the regular season begins. Consequently, the ankle issue could influence the Wizards’ lineup decisions and potentially affect early‑season rotations. Future coverage will likely track official medical assessments released by the Wizards and any statements regarding Dybantsa’s return to full practice.

Observers will also watch for roster adjustments that may arise if the injury extends into the regular season, as well as the impact of the Celtics’ two‑way deal on their own preseason plans. Updates from the team’s press releases and further reporting by the outlets already covering the story will shape the next phase of the narrative.
