## Executive Summary
Airbnb is cracking down on checkout chores, banning hosts from requiring guests to wash dishes or strip beds.

## Intelligence Brief
Recent reporting details a major policy shift at Airbnb regarding guest checkout duties. According to coverage from Yahoo, the Indianapolis Business Journal, and newscentermaine.com, the platform is cracking down on checkout chores by officially prohibiting hosts from asking guests to perform specific tasks. Specifically, the updated guest cleaning rules state that travelers no longer have to wash the dishes or strip the beds before they depart.

While the change aims to streamline the departure process for visitors, the new rules have already generated distinct reactions across different user groups. Media outlets such as newscentermaine.com highlight that the adjustments are frustrating some local hosts who previously relied on these guest requirements. Coverage does not yet specify all enforcement mechanisms Airbnb will use against non-compliant hosts, nor does it detail how cleaning fees might adjust in response.

As the story develops, observers and participants will be watching to see how hosts adapt to the mandated reduction in guest cleaning responsibilities and whether further policy changes follow from the platform.
