## Executive Summary
Sigma announces the FP2 mirrorless camera, featuring a slim design and 6K open gate capabilities at a $2199 price point.

## Intelligence Brief
Recent technology reporting documents the official announcement and rollout of the Sigma FP2, described across outlets as the world’s smallest full-frame mirrorless camera. Coverage details that the device is slimmer than its predecessor and includes advanced video specifications, specifically 6K open gate recording in ProRes RAW alongside 32-bit float audio support. Additional reporting from sources such as RedShark News notes that the retail price lands at $2199, which undercuts earlier rumors suggesting a $2500 price tag, though the hardware relies on an external electronic viewfinder rather than a built-in one. Publications including The Phoblographer, StreetInsider, PetaPixel, Newsshooter, and Digital Camera World have all issued reviews, first-look details, and technical breakdowns simultaneously with the announcement.

The Phoblographer features reviews suggesting the device was not primarily made for traditional photographers and is bound to cause confusion within that user base. Meanwhile, PetaPixel characterizes the camera using the descriptor of a brick with a heart of gold, while StreetInsider points potential buyers toward YouTube first-look videos and retail information hosted at B&H. The context surrounding the release centers on the evolution of compact, hybrid, full-frame camera formulas in the digital imaging market. Previous iterations established the product line as a unique offering for creators seeking minimalist form factors combined with professional-grade cinema features.

The inclusion of high-end video recording tools like 6K open gate positions the new model directly within the video-centric production ecosystem, addressing specific demands for raw formats and advanced audio capture in a constrained physical footprint. As coverage continues to unfold, readers and prospective buyers are directed by available reports to monitor further technical evaluations, user responses, and hands-on demonstrations. Outlets have highlighted upcoming first-look videos and retail availability channels, including listings at B&H, but current reporting does not yet specify broader distribution schedules or secondary accessory rollouts beyond the noted external electronic viewfinder requirement.
