## Executive Summary
A UN Commission of Inquiry has concluded that Israel committed war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

## Intelligence Brief
A United Nations Commission of Inquiry has released findings stating that Israel has committed war crimes and crimes against humanity within the Occupied Palestinian Territory. According to the report detailed by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), these actions have occurred alongside a continuing genocide in Gaza. The findings specifically highlight that Israel continued to commit genocide in Gaza even after a truce was established. This determination encompasses broad violations across the region, including specific crimes against humanity committed in the occupied West Bank, as reported by Al Jazeera. Major global news organizations have highlighted the severity of these claims.

News & World Report both report that the UN inquiry found the genocide in Gaza persisted following the truce. News.com.au characterizes the UN's claims as a bombshell, specifically highlighting the use of the term extermination in relation to the findings. AP News further emphasizes that UN-commissioned experts have determined that the Gaza ceasefire did not succeed in stopping Israel from committing genocide, indicating a failure of the truce to halt the reported atrocities. The context of this report centers on the legal classifications of the conflict in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. The UN Commission of Inquiry is focusing on the distinction between war crimes, which are serious violations of international humanitarian law, and crimes against humanity, which are widespread or systematic attacks against a civilian population.

The current report expands the scope of these accusations beyond the immediate conflict in Gaza to include the occupied West Bank, framing the situation as a comprehensive failure to adhere to international legal standards across the territories. Future developments will depend on how the international community responds to the specific findings of the UN-commissioned experts. The coverage indicates a focus on whether the ceasefire and subsequent truces can be effectively enforced to stop the genocide identified by the OHCHR. Observers are watching for the formal integration of these findings into larger international legal proceedings, as the report explicitly names the continuation of genocide and crimes against humanity as ongoing issues that persisted despite diplomatic efforts to establish a ceasefire.
