## Executive Summary
Major gaming outlets are releasing curated lists of horror titles to guide players through the 2026 Halloween season across multiple gaming platforms.

## Intelligence Brief
As the Halloween season arrives, several technology and gaming publications have released curated recommendations for horror video games. According to reports from Eurogamer.net, Girls United, and virus.hr, there is a concentrated effort to provide players with lists of the most frightening experiences available for the holiday. Eurogamer.net has specifically highlighted 13 of the scariest and spookiest games for players to engage with this October. Simultaneously, Girls United has expanded the scope of its recommendations, offering a comprehensive list of 20 horror games that span across all available gaming platforms to ensure broad accessibility for the spooky season. The coverage emphasizes a variety of access points for these titles, with different outlets focusing on different ecosystems.

For instance, virus.hr has narrowed its focus to the PlayStation Plus service, identifying the top horror games available specifically through that subscription model for those seeking Halloween fun. This suggests a trend where publishers are not only recommending individual titles but are also directing users toward specific digital storefronts and membership services to access horror content. The reports collectively signal a seasonal surge in interest for the horror genre across the broader gaming industry. This trend is driven by the annual cultural anticipation of the spooky season, where the demand for immersive, frightening digital experiences peaks. The necessity for these lists arises from the vast number of titles available across different hardware, making curated guides essential for consumers.

By categorizing games by platform or subscription service, outlets like Girls United and virus.hr provide a roadmap for users to navigate the current gaming landscape. The focus on 'scariest' and 'spookiest' titles indicates a preference for atmosphere and tension during the October holiday period. Future developments to watch include whether these recommendations lead to an increase in downloads or subscriptions for the services mentioned. Specifically, the focus on PlayStation Plus by virus.hr may indicate a shift in how users access seasonal content through subscription libraries rather than individual purchases. Readers should monitor whether other platforms or subscription services release similar curated lists to compete for the attention of horror enthusiasts.
