## Executive Summary
Costco has officially withdrawn its application to develop a new warehouse location in Eagle, Idaho.

## Intelligence Brief
Costco has formally withdrawn its application for a proposed development site located in Eagle, Idaho. According to reporting from KBOI, the specific site of the withdrawn application was located off Hill Road. Additional coverage from KTVB specifies that the warehouse was intended to be situated near Highway 55. This decision effectively cancels the company's immediate plans to establish a physical retail presence at that particular Eagle location, marking a sudden shift in the retailer's expansion strategy for the region. Multiple regional news outlets have focused on the cancellation of the project.

These outlets emphasize that the application process has ended and the plans for the new store in Eagle are now considered cancelled. The coverage is consistent across these sources, confirming that the application was pulled rather than denied or modified for a different nearby plot. Context for this decision is provided by the Idaho Statesman, which notes that the withdrawal occurs as the opening date for a different Costco store in South Meridian nears. This suggests a connection between the timing of the South Meridian opening and the decision to abandon the Eagle development site. The proximity of these two potential locations within the broader regional market provides the necessary background for why the company may have reconsidered the necessity of the Hill Road project at this time.

Future developments depend on whether Costco seeks alternative sites in the Eagle area or focuses entirely on the South Meridian opening. While the application for the site near Highway 55 and Hill Road is officially gone, coverage does not specify if the company intends to reapply in the future. Observers will be watching the upcoming opening of the South Meridian store to see how it impacts the company's logistics and footprint in Idaho. The current status remains that the Eagle project is cancelled based on the withdrawn application.
