## Executive Summary
Samsung's P9 MicroSD Express card is seeing significant price drops as users prepare storage for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.

## Intelligence Brief
Samsung has placed its P9 MicroSD Express card on sale, with pricing dropping below $50. According to reporting from 9to5Toys, the card is currently available for $48, which represents a 40% discount. This product is specifically described as being ready for use with the Switch 2, allowing users to double their console storage in time for the holiday season. While some price points vary across the market, Android Headlines notes that the P9 has also slid down to $99, marking its lowest price point within the last 30 days. Coverage of these discounts is appearing across several major technology and gaming outlets.

The Verge highlights that the card is now available for less than $50, while IGN reports on savings of up to 40% for Nintendo Switch 2 memory cards that the outlet has personally tested and vetted. This cross-platform coverage emphasizes the accessibility of high-speed storage options as consumers look toward new hardware. The reporting focuses heavily on the timing of these sales and the specific cost reductions associated with the Samsung P9 model. Context for this trend is driven by the anticipation of the Nintendo Switch 2 hardware. The need for expanded storage has led to the creation of specialized guides, such as the Switch 2 SD Card Planner published by shattered.io, which outlines a 12-step, 60-minute process for planning storage needs in 2026.

The transition to MicroSD Express technology suggests a shift in performance requirements for upcoming gaming titles, making the ability to secure vetted memory cards at a discount a priority for early adopters and holiday shoppers. Future developments to monitor include the continued price fluctuations of the P9 card as more users prepare for the new console. Since IGN has already begun testing and vetting memory cards for the system, further performance benchmarks may emerge. Additionally, the market may see more planning resources similar to those from shattered.io as the official launch of the Switch 2 hardware approaches. Coverage does not yet specify if other manufacturers will release competing Express cards at similar holiday price points.
