## Executive Summary
Google has launched the Connected Apps platform, allowing third-party developers to integrate their applications directly into Gemini and Google Search.

## Intelligence Brief
Google has officially launched the Connected Apps platform, a new developer-focused environment designed to integrate third-party applications into both Google Search and the Gemini AI ecosystem. According to reports from 9to5Google and TradingView, this platform enables developers to build apps that plug directly into these services, expanding the functionality available to users within Google's core search and AI interfaces. The rollout includes a preview period for third-party apps, as noted by PPC Land, signifying a shift toward a more open ecosystem where external tools can operate inside Google's primary AI and search frameworks. Coverage from TechCrunch and The Verge emphasizes the strategic timing of this move, noting that the expansion comes as AI agents continue to reshape the broader web landscape. These outlets, along with Search Engine Roundtable, highlight that the Connected Apps platform is specifically designed to let more developers create integrations that plug into Gemini and Search.

By opening these interfaces, Google is shifting from a closed model to one that accommodates a wider array of external developer tools, which allows for a more modular approach to how users interact with AI-driven search results and generative AI responses. To understand the significance of this development, it is necessary to recognize the evolving role of AI agents in digital navigation. The coverage suggests that as the web changes, the ability for apps to exist within search and AI assistants becomes a critical point of competition. By providing a dedicated developer platform, Google is attempting to maintain the relevance of Search and Gemini by ensuring they serve as hubs for other services rather than standalone tools. This transition allows the company to leverage a wider array of third-party data and utility functions to enhance the user experience in real-time.

Moving forward, the primary area of focus will be the transition from the current preview phase to full availability. Based on the reports from PPC Land and other tech outlets, the industry will be watching how many third-party developers adopt the Connected Apps platform and what specific types of applications are prioritized for integration. Because the current status is described as a preview, the subsequent phases of the rollout will determine the scale of the ecosystem. Coverage does not yet specify the exact criteria for app approval or the specific technical constraints developers must follow to plug into Gemini and Search.
