## Executive Summary
Rick Stockstill takes over as interim head coach of FSU football following the firing of Mike Norvell after seven seasons.

## Intelligence Brief
Florida State University football is undergoing a leadership transition after the organization fired head coach Mike Norvell. The decision comes after Norvell led the program for a total of seven seasons. In the immediate wake of this change, Rick Stockstill has been appointed as the interim head coach. According to reports from 247Sports, Stockstill spoke on Monday regarding his new role and expressed his love for FSU. He addressed the transition and the responsibilities he will now hold as the temporary leader of the football team during this period of organizational change. Coverage of the event is being led by several major outlets with different focuses.

The Tallahassee Democrat reported the primary news of Mike Norvell's termination after his seven-year tenure. 247Sports has focused specifically on the comments made by interim head coach Rick Stockstill during his Monday statements. Meanwhile, CBS Sports is examining the future of the former head coach, specifically looking at potential paths for Norvell. This includes an exploration of high-profile coordinator options that may be available to him as he leaves the FSU program. The context of this shift is rooted in the end of a seven-season era under Norvell's leadership at Florida State. The sudden nature of the firing has shifted the focus of the athletic department toward stability, leading to the appointment of Stockstill. The transition is significant because it happens during the active football season, requiring a quick pivot to interim leadership to maintain program operations.

The public statements from Stockstill on Monday serve as the first point of communication from the new interim leadership to the university community and the fans. Moving forward, coverage is expected to monitor the specific directions Mike Norvell takes in his professional career, as highlighted by CBS Sports' interest in coordinator roles. Observers will also be watching how Rick Stockstill manages his duties as interim head coach. Future reports will likely track the search for a permanent replacement for the head coaching position, though coverage does not yet specify a timeline for that search or the criteria the university is seeking in a new long-term leader.
