## Executive Summary
The U.S. Coast Guard has detained the cruise ship MSC Poesia at PortMiami, leading to the immediate cancellation of an 11-night sailing.

## Intelligence Brief
Coast Guard has officially detained the cruise ship known as the MSC Poesia at PortMiami. Authorities have confirmed that the vessel is being held at the port, preventing its planned departure. The detention is part of an official regulatory action that has disrupted the cruise line's itinerary and affected passengers booked for the voyage. Extensive coverage of the event has been provided by several news organizations, including NBC 6 South Florida, the Miami Herald, and USA Today. These outlets, along with WPLG Local 10 and CBS News, emphasize that the ship is currently undergoing what officials describe as an expanded examination.

The Miami New Times also reported on the subsequent cancellation of the cruise following the detainment. The reports collectively highlight the decisive nature of the Coast Guard's intervention at PortMiami. To understand the current situation, it is necessary to note the role of the U.S. Coast Guard in conducting safety and regulatory inspections of maritime vessels. The use of the term expanded examination suggests a process that goes beyond a routine check, indicating that specific issues may have triggered a more detailed review of the MSC Poesia.

The cancellation of an 11-night sailing underscores the significance of the detention, as the ship is unable to leave port while the Coast Guard's investigation continues. Moving forward, observers will be monitoring the results of the expanded examination conducted by the U.S. Coverage does not yet specify the exact nature of the deficiencies or the timeline for when the MSC Poesia might be released from detainment. Future updates from officials are expected to clarify why the examination was expanded and what steps MSC must take to resolve the issues that led to the ship being held at PortMiami.
