Miami wide receiver Malachi Toney is set for surgery on a high ankle sprain ahead of a critical matchup against Notre Dame.

## Intelligence Brief
The top-ranked Miami football program is dealing with a significant injury concern involving star wide receiver Malachi Toney. This medical development comes at a pivotal moment for the team as they prepare for an upcoming game against Notre Dame. The injury to Toney represents a substantial loss for the Miami offense, as the coverage identifies him as a star player for the squad. Coverage of the situation has been reported by both Bleacher Report and Fox News.

Fox News emphasizes the severity of the situation, describing the injury as a nightmare concern for the top-ranked Miami team. Meanwhile, Bleacher Report has focused on the latest rumors surrounding Toney's status and his availability for the specific contest against Notre Dame. Both outlets align on the fact that the receiver is injured and that the team's outlook is impacted by his absence from the field. This situation is particularly critical because Miami currently holds a top ranking, meaning the loss of a key offensive weapon like Toney could jeopardize their standing.

The need for surgery indicates a more complex recovery process than a standard sprain, affecting the team's depth at the receiver position. Looking forward, the primary focus will be on the official timeline for Toney's recovery following his ankle surgery. While the coverage mentions rumors regarding his status versus Notre Dame, the specific duration of his absence has not been explicitly detailed. Observers will be watching for official updates from the Miami coaching staff regarding how the team intends to adjust its offensive strategy to compensate for the loss of their star receiver in the near term.
